The Indigenous Women and Children Foundation (IWCF) is a nonprofit organization established on March 27, 2008, in Tamenglong, Manipur, dedicated to empowering indigenous women and children. It focuses on promoting education, health, livelihood, and human rights while preserving cultural identity and traditional values. IWCF works to ensure that indigenous communities actively participate in decision-making processes affecting their lives. The organization promotes equality, dignity, and sustainability through various awareness and development programs. Its mission is to build a just, inclusive, and self-reliant society where every woman and child can thrive.
Learn MoreWe organized our Joint Annual Outing cum Picnic 2025 on January 24, 2025, at Bamgaijang Barak, bringing together 75 participants, including staff and children from various projects. The day was filled with joy and togetherness through outdoor games, team-building activities, and water-based fun, creating moments of laughter and stronger bonds between staff and children. We concluded the memorable day with a delightful dinner, a group photo, and a heartfelt closing prayer, cherishing the spirit of unity, happiness, and family that defines our work and community.
We celebrated Children’s Day on November 14, 2024, at the Jaithau Children’s Home premises, honoring Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s birth anniversary. The event, themed “Listen to the Future,” aimed to highlight children’s voices, prioritize their needs, and secure their future. Shri Gauge Kamei, Manager (D) and Depot Incharge of the Food Corporation of India, FSD Tamenglong, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The celebration featured special songs, recognition and appreciation of children, and a fun-filled entertainment session by the staff. The event brought together children from Jaithau Children’s Home for Boys, Zauzian Children’s Home for Girls, and Macarius Home – Specialized Adoption Agency, creating a joyful atmosphere of learning, laughter, and inspiration.
The Executive Director of IWCF and the Manager of Macias Home-SAA attended a six-day Permaculture or Ecological Farming Training of Trainers organized by the Henry Martyn Institute, Hyderabad, in collaboration with Loamy Lop, Barak Dairy, BIKACHSI Agro, Tareng ASG, and Happy Ingkhol from September 27 to October 2, 2024, at Singerband Village, Cachar District, Assam. The training aimed to equip participants with practical knowledge and skills on permaculture principles, farm design, biodiversity, water management, and nutrition. Expert resource persons such as Mr. Raja Ganesh, Ms. Karthiga Auroville, and Mr. Jayanta Kr. Sarma facilitated the sessions, offering in-depth insights into sustainable farming practices. The program brought together around 40-50 participants from neighboring states, including Manipur, Assam, Nagaland, and Meghalaya, fostering regional learning and collaboration.
