On June 29, 2024, our staff participated in an Awareness and Consultation Program on Forest and Land Rights held at the Town Baptist Church Hall, Tamenglong. The event was organized by local well-wishers, social activists, and the Zeliangrong Baptist Association to engage communities in meaningful discussions on forest and land rights, focusing on the Indian Forest Act, biodiversity conservation, and the rights of Indigenous peoples. The program highlighted key issues related to the Jiri Mara Sanctuary, Azuram Community Reserve, Zeilad Wildlife Sanctuary, and Bunning Wildlife Sanctuary. Advocate Khampa Khalter and Executive Director Dimguang Ruangmei served as resource persons, sharing their expertise and providing valuable insights to deepen participants’ understanding of land and forest governance.
